About
Elly Peirson is an Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Central District of Illinois. She joined the office in February of 2009 and serves as the district’s Project Safe Childhood Coordinator fostering the Department of Justice=s special initiative to combat the sexual exploitation of children. From 2016-2018, Ms. Peirson was assigned to the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section of the Criminal Division, in Washington, D.C., on a detail assignment, prosecuting international child sex tourism and large-scale dark-web cases.
Prior to joining the Department, Ms. Peirson spent six years as a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado prosecuting crimes against children and domestic violence felonies. She is a graduate of Loyola University School of Law in Chicago where she was a clinician with the CIVITAS Child Law Center and an intern with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office in their child protection and domestic violence divisions. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications from DePaul University in Chicago.
