Law 693:  Federal Civil Rights Clinic

Students working in pairs are assigned to represent litigants in federal civil rights trials in the Central District of Illinois.  The students are selected on the basis of spring tryouts, and are provisionally admitted to practice in the Central District of Illinois.  Under faculty supervision, these students will work with clients to prepare their case and try it before a jury during the enrolled academic year.  It is expected that eight students will be selected.  Classes will meet in a seminar class once per week.

The commitment to Federal Civil Rights Clinic is a two semester clinic with course credit of two graded hours in the fall semester and three graded hours in the spring semester. 

Sequence and Prerequisites: Prior completion or concurrent enrollment in Evidence, Trial Advocacy, and Trial Advocacy Workshop. 

Evaluation: Grades will be based on performance in the clinical projects and assignments.
