Law 792: Advanced Legal Research: Administrative & Regulatory
This course will teach students how to efficiently and effectively conduct federal administrative law research in legal practice. Specifically, students will be able to
- Thoroughly understand the federal rulemaking process, with a focus on the construction and publication of federal regulations in all forms: proposed rules and final rules in the Federal Register (FR) and the codification of final rules in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR);
- Track and maintain awareness of federal regulatory planning and action, utilizing a variety of electronic and print tools;
- Efficiently search and locate federal administrative decisions and informal guidance;
- Effectively research Illinois administrative law and understand the basic nuances of state administrative law structure and research.
Sequence and Prerequisites: Legal Research
Evaluation: There will be no final examination, grades will be based on course assignments and projects.
